NMA Mathematics and Statistics Day 2021

  • Held at Kaikohe East School on Thursday 29th of April and Whangarei Girls’ High School on Friday 30th April 2021 – choose the day/venue that best suits you.
  • For Northland teachers from years 1-10.
  • 8.15am to 3.30pm
  • Cost is $30 for NMA members and $50 for non-members. This includes lunch and morning tea.
  • Featuring two inspiring and engaging keynote/plenary speakers as well as a smorgasbord of workshops from local teachers. See the range of workshops available here.

Keynote speaker:

Jasmine Hall is a PhD student in Mathematics and Assistant Lecturer at Victoria University. Having herself been disengaged with the NZ Maths curriculum, she is passionate about sharing interesting Mathematics with students. Her talk will draw on her own experiences of NCEA and propose ways to create a curriculum that is not only engaging for students, but truly representative of Mathematics.


Plenary speaker:

Dr Pania Te Maro is a senior Lecturer/Researcher in Education at Massey University with a main focus on Mathematics Education in relation to kaupapa and mātauranga Māori in kura. She will share insights into how we can work on getting the balance right between mātauranga and kaupapa Māori and mātauranga and kaupapa Maths.
